The more plastic in the rivers the more plastic that ends up in the ocean. In both rivers and the ocean it can injure wildlife (when they get tangled) and it can poison them (when they eat by mistake, or because of the chemicals plastic can release). If there was only plastic in rivers then most wildlife would not be able to survive in there, and it would impact humans too as we need clean water for growing food, for drinking and for washing.
