• Question: How many different volcanoes have you visited? Which one do you think is the most dangerous?

      I have visited several volcanoes. I worked in Hawaii at the Volcano observatory for a while so lived on one (Kilauea) and visited both Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. I’ve been to some in Italy (Etna, Vesuvius, Stromboli, Campi Flegrei), the USA (including Mt St Helens) and New Zealand (including Ruapehu, Tongariro, Rotorua, Taupo and Tarawera), and I’ve been to Iceland (which is all volcanoes). Of these, the USA and NZ ones are the most explosive and therefore probably the more dangerous.

      But we have ancient eroded volcanoes here in the UK too, on the west coast of Scotland and in the Lake district
