  These days I really enjoy teaching, it feels a bit like performing on a stage – I always try to be as entertaining as possible (while explaining things well too) so that my students will say “that sounds fun, I’d really like to do that in the future.”

  I like that every day is different, sometimes I will be growing pretty crystals and other days I will be using big machines to look at chemical reactions. It is good to know that every day we are working towards solving a problem!

  I like the fact that it is different every day (even in lockdown I am working on lots of projects lots of different people. One day I will be teaching, the next writing, the next helping my students, the next attending meetings or a seminar….

  My favourite part is getting to travel to a new study site, and then trying to learn all about it by measuring the chemistry of water, air, soil or rocks and by taking samples of them to study in the lab. This part is really fun because you usually work in a team of at least 2 people, but often more, so you all get to know each other really well.
