Thanks for a very good question NisholaP! Apart from being a greener alternative, biocatalysis can also be a safer alternative to use in the pharmaceutical industry because it does not need dangerous solvents or high pressures and temperatures which are often needed for the methods currently used when making medicines. Biocatalysis can also provide new routes of making medicines which can in some cases make a higher purity product by a shorter method than currently available.
