Question: Do you think a student wanting to apply to be a chemical engineer/medicine needs a wide variety of A-levels? Do you think just doing Biology, Chemistry and Maths is fine or would you recommend doing as essay based subject as well?

An essay based subject isn’t required but I thought it will look even better if I had an essay based subject as well as it will show I wide range of skills. I hate English so the only essay based subject I could potentially do is History. However, I haven’t enjoyed doing it at GCSE…

Maths, Chemistry, and then Physics would be the most useful. Some Universities require chemistry and/or physics, but all I know need the maths. Biology would be useful if it’s that side of chemical engineering you are interested in, but probably less important than the other three. Check in the UCAS and university webpages for more details.
